Facing rising financial problems, the UC Regents voted Wednesday to slash systemwide undergraduate enrollment by 2,300 students. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, UC Berkeley’s enrollment would remain at the same level, but enrollment will drop at the Davis, Irvine, Riverside, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz campuses. In response to concerns that ethnic diversity would suffer by the enrollment cuts, the Regents boosted transfers from community colleges by 500 students.
