Jerry Brown Goes After Alleged Pyramid Scheme

Attorney General and likely gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown has sued an Illinois-based travel agency service, alleging that it’s really a massive pyramid scheme that has bilked millions of dollars out of suckers around the state. The East Bay Business Times reports that YourTravelBiz.com recruits its members with aggressive marketing videos featuring folks rolling in cash, but members allegedly have to pay fees to franchise the business up front, and very few actually make it back in commissions. In other words, it’s a pyramid scheme! Allegedly. Brown’s office is seeking $25 million in fines and restitution.
