.Danville Pilot Toast of New York

New York City can’t get enough of Chesley Sullenberger, the Danville resident and pilot who managed to ditch his disabled US Airways plane in the Hudson without any casualties, the first time anyone has accomplished this in 45 years. All over the city, politicians and reporters are hailing Sullenberger’s quick thinking, coolness under pressure, and steadfastness. The Daily News calls him “The Hero of the Hudson.” The Post headline screams, “Superhero Pilot Man of the Hour.” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Sullenberger had done a “masterful job,” and David Patterson dubbed his work a “miracle on the Hudson.” And Gawker, of course, notes that Sullenberger runs an aviation safety consulting firm, “so he’ll soon be rich beyond his wildest dreams.”
