It was a huge turnaround for the Oakland school board member. Campbell Washington had trailed Broadhurst badly in the polls, but mounted a remarkable turnaround. Campbell Washington will take over for Libby Schaaf, who is moving into the Oakland mayor’s office.

In the District Two council race, Abel Guillen is leading Dana King 52.1 percent to 47.9 percent in ranked-choice voting. It might take several days for an official winner to be declared in this race, because there are still thousands of uncounted late absentee and provisional ballots.
In the District Six council race, incumbent Desley Brooks appears to be on her way to reelection. She’s leading challenger Shereda Nosakhare, 55.04 percent to 44.94 percent in ranked choice voting.
In the city auditor’s race, Brenda Roberts won in a landslide, outdistancing Len Raphael, 77.5 percent to 22.5 percent. Incumbent Courtney Ruby gave up her seat to run for mayor, but finished in seventh place in that contest.
In the Oakland school board races, Aimee Eng won in a landslide as well in the District Two race, trouncing William “Bo” Ghirardelli, 74.89 percent to 25.11 percent.
In the District Four school board contest, Nina Senn holds a narrow lead over Karl Debro, 51.47 percent to 48.53 percent in ranked choice voting. This race also likely will take several days to determine a winner.
And in the District Six race, Shanthi Gonzales defeated Renato Almanzor, 58.76 percent to 41.24 percent.
