Stories you shouldn’t miss:

1. The Oakland City Council agreed last night to pay 12 Occupy Oakland demonstrators a total of $1.17 million for injuries they suffered at the hands of Oakland police during 2011 protests, the Trib and SFGate report. The legal settlement included a $150,000 payout to Scott Campbell, a videographer who was shot in the leg by a beanbag round fired by a cop. The settlement follows another $1 million payout awarded last week to Oscar Grant protesters for police misconduct during a 2010 demonstration. And more big payouts are expected from lawsuits filed by military veterans Scott Olsen and Kayvan Sabeghi, who were both seriously injured by police during Occupy protests.
