Shocker! Perata Finds Loophole To Raise Millions

Capitol Weekly says state Senator Don Perata of Oakland raised more than $8 million for his Rebuilding California committee, which pumped millions into the campaign to pass various state infrastructure bonds on the ballot. Unlike donations made to candidates, there are no limits on contributions made to ballot-measure committees. The Don got an early start, launching the committee a year before the Legislature put the bonds on the ballot. In fact, Perata paid special pal Sandi Polka $70,000 in consulting fees-in 2005.
