In a fascinating Mercury News story today, the National Science Foundation reports that UC Berkeley is no longer the school that produces the most Ph.D. candidates in American universities. Now, that honor belongs to China’s Tsinghua University, followed by Beijing University. Cal has dropped to number three. But if China’s so great, how come it didn’t make Kung Fu Panda?
