.Most Eclectic Picture Frame Selection

Galleria Scola

Some stores have larger selections, but few offer the kind of personalized service and homemade frames of Galleria Scola, a locally owned, independent shop. “They have really lovely wood ones — from bright colors to baroque to simple black ones,” says art aficionado Margo Mercedes Rivera-Weiss. Owner Elida Scola also offers a somewhat unique touch — she adds beautiful paper to the back of the frame that not only hides the nuts and bolts of the framing work, but keeps the artwork free of bugs and dust. Scola also has a reputation for donating her work to worthy causes. “When the nonprofit I work for — the Women’s Cancer Research Center — wanted to get some things framed … we asked for a discount, she asked what our budget was, laughed, and then gave it to us free,” Rivera-Weiss recalls.
