Everything about The Meadows is fresh, cheerful, and very simple — this pocket-sized shop is little more than a streetside alcove packed with buckets of cut flowers. Staffers are quick to suggest which blooms to combine for a lively bouquet, and if you require anything more complicated, they can be commissioned to produce larger arrangements or provide the flowers for large events like weddings. There’s nothing boring or overly formal about the shop’s selections — for such a tiny storefront, The Meadows offers a wide choice of unusually shaped and textured plants, like gigantic yellow and orange alien pod-like pincushion protea, tensely curled green fiddlehead ferns, or brushy leucodendron stalks that somehow look like an above-water species of seaweed. The shop also carries some very cool fruit-based options, like dried branches from the kiwi fruit plant or long stalks tipped by baby pineapples. Nobody here will try to slap a limp Mylar balloon or a tangle of curling ribbon onto your arrangement — the flowers can speak for themselves.
