Good get from the San Francisco Chronicle today, as reporter Tanya Schevitz reported that the UC Regents have settled on University of Texas Chancellor Mark Yudof to run the university system. Yudof is a legal scholar who has run the UT system since 2002, which would be a nice break from current president Robert Dynes, who was regarded as a crackerjack physicist but was clearly in over his head. Under Dynes’ tenure, compensation scandals erupted around the UC system, and his leadership was nowhere to be found. If Schevitz’s story holds up (and UC officials have refused to comment), at least they’ll have someone who’s been around the block a few times.
