Senator Barbara Boxer acknowledged yesterday that her plans for a sweeping climate change bill that would cap carbon emissions is dead because of Republican victories in this month’s election, the Mercury News reports. As chair of the Senate’s environmental committee, Boxer is resigned to working on incremental change, such as energy efficiency measures, and to defending the Environmental Protection Agency from Republicans. However, Boxer and Senator Dianne Feinstein appear committed to an effort to repeal the military’s controversial “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy during a lame-duck session of Congress, the Sacramento Bee reports.
