Farm Animal Cruelty Bill On November Ballot

After spending more than $1.4 million gathering signatures, the Humane Society of the United States has put a bill on the November ballot that would ban the penning of farm animals in such tight spaces that they can’t turn around stand up or lie down. According to the Sacto Bee, the measure is predicted to draw vehement opposition from farm industry groups, especially the United Egg Producers, who will claim that the bill will force food prices to spike. With food prices worldwide actually rising for the first time in years, this argument might have some legs in November.
