Okay, so you fall into a puddle of mush when you see your honey. But what happens in your brain? That’s just what scientists from around the world plan to answer January 20, at the UC Berkeley “neurobiology of love” conference. Psychiatrists, evolutionary biologists, and experts in “biological cybernetics” will gather at the UC Berkeley Art Museum Theater. There, they will talk about such concepts as “neural correlates of sexual arousal and compassionate love,” and “biological concepts of unity-in-love and annihilation-in-love.” Who knows – you just might simultaneously meet your soulmate and figure out the role of oxytocin in pair bonding.
