Dellums Lays Out Plan to Reshape Oakand Gov’t

Kinda. According to the Chronicle, Ron Dellums held a presser yesterday to announce the results of Robert Bobb’s recommendations to streamline city government and make city employees more accountable. It includes shifting development priorities toward growing businesses and jobs and away from housing, requiring audits of various departments and performance evaluations of department heads, restricting the use of city credit cards. In addition, the mayor now has to show up for work, appearing at 9 am every Monday morning to set the tone for the next week. Councilwoman Jane Brunner was stingingly skeptical. “It will only make a difference if they implement it,” she said.
