So far, Oakland’s very own Jerry Brown is the odds-on favorite to win the race for governor, a recent poll finds. According to Matier and Ross, the poll found Brown topping Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, but Senator Dianne Feinstein would demolish them all if she wanted to quit her gig and try running the state for a while. DiFi has made noises about leaving the Senate before, mostly because she reportedly hates the nasty tactics it takes to win an election these days. But she’d have to campaign just as hard to win the governor’s seat, and then she’d have to fix California. And who’d want to do that? Our money’s still on Brown for now.
