Black Leaders Mad About Obama’s Cabinet?

The Hill reports that some members of the Congressional Black Caucus are angry because Barack Obama hasn’t appointed enough black people to his new Cabinet. If you’d like a head count, Mr. O has tapped four African Americans to Cabinet-level positions, including the new attorney general. But that, reports The Hill, isn’t enough. So what does East Bay congresswoman and incoming head of the Congressional Black Caucus Barbara Lee think about the spat? She ain’t sayin’. “Lee’s spokeswoman deferred to Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-Mich.), who is the chairwoman of the CBC until the 111th Congress is sworn in next month,” The Hill reports. However, the paper also pointedly notes that Lee’s office has been awfully quiet about Obama’s Cabinet appointees, only issuing one press release commending the naming of Stephen Chu to head Energy. Or is this reading the tea leaves a little too closely?
