When you want to engage in some pampering, you might take a day off work, sleep in late, and heck, maybe even get a massage. But for serious pamper gluttons — and those with money to burn — the Claremont is the only place to go. Instead of the usual, boring massage, try one of the spa’s “Journey” packages. For $350, the two-and-a-half-hour Mayan Temple Journey gives you a bath of “hypnotic desert sage and juniper,” a blue-corn and rice powder scrub, avocado and cactus glaze, and a warm avocado stone massage. For something less elaborate but equally exotic, try the Tibetan Sound Massage, which incorporates vibrations from bowls placed on your body, from $135. While the spa’s location inside the Claremont Resort may give the impression that this place is only for upper-crust out-of-towners, the spa’s multitude of services — from a fifty-minute pedicure for $75 to a 25-minute neck and shoulder specialty for $80 — allows us flatland folks to get in a little gluttony, too.
