Alameda Naval Air Station Stalled Out

Looks like development plans for the Alameda Naval Air Station have hit another roadblock. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that SunCal, the company that got the gig to build 770 acres worth of housing, retail and office buildings has asked for a six-month delay in submitting its plans. It couldn’t have helped that the company is being sued for allegedly failing to pay $105 million to its creditors. Meanwhile, Clif Bar has decided not to set up shop in Alameda Landing, and the city faces a $4 million budget deficit. Which adds up to a lot of what deputy city manager Lisa Goldman delicately calls “challenges.”
