According a MediaNews (Ugh) report, Alameda County will have to cut roughly $73 million from its next budget, owing to a decline in property taxes, as well as state and federal spending. The worst element of this story is undoubtedly the $100 million cut in Medicaid spending at the Alameda County Health Center, which is the health care of last resort for tens of thousands of uninsured, often poverty-stricken county residents.
