Mondo Gelato is a good place for a sweet tooth and an open mind. The “Mondo” in the name alludes to sister stores in Beijing and Vancouver, but it might as well be referring to the kaleidoscopic array of nearly sixty flavors of gelato on hand. On any given day or night, you can choose from a dozen fresh fruit sorbets, at least eight different chocolates, and a variety of creative flavors ranging from the mundane (bran, malt) to the indulgent (After Eight, tiramisu). Fans of continental confections such as Bacio and Ferrero Rocher and comfort foods such as Nutella and Ovaltine will not be disappointed, either. There are also soy- and yogurt-based gelatos, so lactose intolerance or being on a diet is no excuse for resisting the urge. Mondo Gelato makes everything on the premises in real Italian gelato machines. Samples are readily given to patrons caught in the throes of indecision. Multiple return visits are usually necessary to fully satisfy the most curious palate.
