Josh Richman reports on the MediaNews Political Blotter blog that the Log Cabin Republicans are listing four East Bay cities in their California “Top 10 Lesbian Index” – – ie, the cities with the highest percentage of women living in same-sex partnerships according to the 2000 U.S. Census. Those cities? Berkeley takes first place, and Oakland, Albany, and El Cerrito come in at third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively. The East Bay didn’t even chart on the “Top 10 Gay Male Index” at all – – the only nearby city to break into the top ten was San Francisco, at number four. The overall gayest city in California according to the Log Cabin Republicans? That would be West Hollywood.
Now if the Log Cabin Republicans would just crank out a list of the top ten cities with gay populations that actually vote for the GOP – – that would be interesting.
