The statewide $11 billion water package contains $2 billion of pork spending, much of which has little or nothing to do with the state’s water problem, the Chron reports. Legislators admitted that the pork was included in the massive bond package that will go before voters next year in order to gain enough votes for passage in the Legislature. The spending, for example, includes $20 million to buy land to expand a small conservancy in the Los Angeles hills near the home of Democratic Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, the Chron reports.
