If there was a song to center your Nineties and early-Aughts nostalgia in, Ginuwine’s “So Anxious” is a good place to land. The quintessential Nineties jam threads the line between a yearning love song ideal for a radio request on a Sunday night and the perfect breather for a packed dancefloor. This Friday, So, So Anxious, the throwback R&B and hip-hop party that takes over the Starline Social Club every third Friday, is celebrating two years and maybe the song the party’s name takes inspiration for will be played. As always, resident DJs Brigidope (Oakland) and Gold Gills (Opening:Nite) will kick things off with special guests DJ Eternal (Q 102.1 a.k.a. The Throwback Station), DJ Umami (Golden State Warriors), and DJ Meleswave (Wavbros). If you’re in the mood to reminisce, and dance and sing along to nostalgic jams, this one’s for you.
Friday August 18, 10pm-2am, 2236 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland, StarlineSocialClub.com.
