Nation’s True Jobless Rate Hits 17.5 Percent

The nation’s true jobless rate, which includes the unemployed, people who are working part-time, and those who have given up on trying to find a job, reached 17.5 percent last month, according to the Chron. The standard unemployment rate, meanwhile, rose to 10.2 percent, the highest level since 1983. Although the economy has shown signs of improvement lately, particularly in the stock market, October was the 22nd straight month of job losses – the worst streak on record.
