Oakland’s favorite experimental and new media art gallery B4bel4b is taking over both floors of the Starline Social Club this Saturday for an immersive art and music experience. The takeover will serve as a fundraiser for the artist-run collective to maintain their dynamic Oakland gallery and continue to showcase avant-garde, local talent. Video installations, fashion presentations, DJ sets and “avant-drag” are all part of the fun on Saturday. Now onto the roster: the upstairs ballroom will feature performances from Lady Fair Cigarettes, VVD WNDWS, SirJoQ & The House of Prolific, Pleomorph, the Girls of HOEisLIFE with music from DJs Jasmine Infiniti, Primo, MeGlow (pictured). The first floor’s side room will feature DJ sets from Russell E. L. Butler, Jay Sonik and Jason Sole. In the landscape of Oakland’s art scene, B4bel4b is a necessary bright neon light: definitively strange and brilliant. Saturday offers the opportunity to keep that light shining and dance under its glow while you’re at it.
Saturday, April 22, 7pm, $15-$500, 2236 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Oakland, b4bel4b.com.
