Jerry Brown‘s Department of Justice has finished doubling its capacity to process DNA samples, an important task now that all convicted felons have to submit a DNA sample, and the state couldn’t handle the load. Now, the Chronicle reports, the Richmond-based crime lab will be able to process 390,000 samples a year. “There was a backlog,” Brown said yesterday, “but that was before I was elected.”
