AC Transit board member Rebecca Kaplan trounced Oakland school board member Kerry Hamill in the race for the city’s at-large council seat, 62% to 38%. Measure OO, the new Kids First initiative, also cruised to victory, winning 53% to 47%. OO requires the council to set aside a millions of dollars each year for after school programs and other youth initiatives.
