Councilmember Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft has won the Alameda mayor’s race, defeating incumbent Trish Spencer. In this afternoon’s update of late mail-in and provisional ballots, Ashcraft extended her lead over Spencer, 41.36 percent to 37.50 percent. Her lead now appears to be insurmountable.
Ashcraft’s mayoral victory means that the third-place finisher in the Alameda City Council race will take her place on the council. Currently, Councilmember Jim Oddie is leading attorney Robert Matz 19.31 percent to 18.23 percent.
We’re not ready to call that race yet — but Oddie’s lead will be tough to overcome.
Spencer’s defeat means that she will out of office after serving four years as mayor.
