EPA: Clean Up Your Air

The Environmental Protection Agency has declared that the Bay Area’s air is unacceptably dirty, and has given air quality district officials three years to come up with the plan to clean it up, reports the Chronicle. The main culprit: wood-burning fireplaces, which release fine particulate matter in still winter days and contributes to heart attacks. On average, air district spokespeople added, the Bay Area air is unhealthy twenty days every winter.
