Even though William Lovan, the nephew of fired Oakland City Administrator Deborah Edgerly, has been convicted of felony gun charges, he’s still employed by the City of Oakland, Bay City News reports. Vice Mayor Ignacio De La Fuente told the news service that, “We should be ashamed of ourselves” that Lovan still works for the city. De La Fuente also said Lovan “should have been terminated a long time ago,” and believes that Lovan is getting special treatment because of his connection with Edgerly.
