DJ Shadow refuses to stand still. Instead of staying in the bedroom trip-hop lane he practically invented on 1996’s sample-based masterpiece Endtroducing…, he’s reimagined his style with each new release, even collaborating with local legends E-40 and Mistah F.A.B. for a foray into hyphy on 2006’s The Outsider. He’s bringing the tour for his most recent album, 2016’s The Mountain Will Fall, to the UC Theater on Sunday, July 16. He’s been teasing a big show on Twitter: “A heads-up to anyone considering attending the tour: It will be years, if ever, until I have another show like the one I’m touring now […] I don’t mean that to sound pushy, but if I was a fan of a particular artist it’s the kind of thing I would kind of want to know.” Noted! —Brian Breneman
