The months-long feud between Oakland council members Desley Brooks and Jean Quan over a coveted parking spot at City Hall has finally ended now that Brooks won a coin toss, according to today’s Chron. Brooks and Quan both wanted the parking place used by now-retired Councilman Henry Chang. Brooks claimed she deserved it because she was elected five months before Quan in 2002 and thus had more seniority. When the two couldn’t work it out on their own, Council President Jane Brunner asked City Attorney John Russo for an opinion. Russo responded that Brooks and Quan had the same seniority because both were sworn into office on the same day in 2003. Finally, Brooks and Quan agreed to a coin toss, and Brooks came out on top.
