And the tough times keep a-comin’. The Contra Costa Times reports that UC Berkeley administrators will have to cut East Asian language courses for roughly 1,500 students; meanwhile, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s proposed budget is expected to increase undergraduate student fees by seven percent. The total damage to the UC system is projected at around $417 million. As the Times points out, gutting classes will only worsen the problems Cal has faced attracting talented students and faculty. But at least we’ve got plenty of prisons.
