.Buy Curious: Take the Day Off to Celebrate Record Store Day

There are all sorts of obscure holidays – National Oatmeal Month (January), Hug Your Cat Day (June 4), Admit You’re Happy Month (August) – and here’s another one to add to the list, Record Store Day. Started in 2007, Record Store Day celebrates local, independent, and hopefully-not-to-soon-be-extinct record retailers, where they sell those CD and record thingamajigs. Participating East Bay stores include Amoeba, Rasputin, 1-2-3-4 Go!!! Records, Down Home Music, and Mod Lang. Presiding over this very important day is Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse “Boots Electric” Hughes, to coincide with the vinyl-only release of EODM’s Heart On. So take the day off, or take a long lunch break, and peruse those bins.
