These are two of the first-ever beers produced by Temescal Brewing, which debuted at Hog’s last year.

Tremendous beer, good eats, and worthy activism collide at Hog’s Apothecary this Sunday, when the north Oakland spot launches “Breaking Bread,” its Sunday meet-the-brewers dinner series that also benefits local nonprofits. This inaugural carb crush will feature four surely excellent brews from Oakland’s best new brewery, Temescal Brewing (4115 Telegraph Ave, Oakland, TemescalBrewing.com); a special three-course menu by Hog’s sous chef Daniel Sotelo; and 10 percent of all ticket sales this edition go to Oakland Workers’ Collective. OWC is a “safe space” that provides health services, training, and organizing know-how to low-wage workers. So, instead of feeling awful about yourself while secretly hate-watching Kardashians this Sunday, feel goddamn fuzzy from an inimitable beer buzz and some charity kudos. — Nick Miller
