GLOB makes earth-friendly paint from fruits, vegetables, and other natural ingredients. “Flavors” (colors) like pomegranate, basil green, and lemon verbena will surely please the palates of eco-parents and artists. This is one of the coolest new eco-art products out there, made right here in a Berkeley studio. We’re not talking about paint you buy in gallons for your living room walls — this is for the budding small artist or adult artists. The six colors are not only inspired by nature, but made from ingredients found in nature — fruits, vegetables, flowers, and spices — and the fruity scents add a nice kick. The Berkeley-based company, run by artist Ashley Phelps, sells its six colors in small packets (six packets for $12), a kit for $15 that includes all six colors and compostable jars, and larger jars (four jars for $18). All are in powdered pigment form; just add water and you’ve got paint. The paint is available online and in select stores. It won’t hurt you, nor the environment, to try it out so go on, get your hands dirty — and breathe easy.
