Bosses who want to reward their employees for a job well done should consider bringing in Ramona Arellano and her magic fingers for a few hours. Arellano specializes in giving chair massages — the kind where you keep your clothes on and sit rather than lie down. She focuses on the neck, shoulders, arms, and back. For office visits, she charges $50 an hour and can usually do three or four people every sixty minutes. Jeff, a principal at a Berkeley architectural firm, gushes, “She did — or undid — more in ten minutes than others have been able to do in 45.” On Wednesday and Friday afternoons, she does chair massages at Nina’s Place, a hair salon at 1506 Shattuck Ave. in North Berkeley right next to the Chess Board. For her time at Nina’s she charges $1 a minute. If you prefer, you can also schedule a home visit for a full-body massage ($65/hour) in the style of your choice: Shiatsu, acupressure, or reflexology. But do Ramona a favor and try and schedule 48 hours in advance.
