Public outrage over the fatal shooting of Oscar Grant by a BART cop has apparently subsided after a planned demonstration fizzled yesterday afternoon because so few people showed up. According to the Chron, the demonstration at the Fruitvale BART station in East Oakland drew more cops and journalists than actual protesters. Organizers of the demonstration had bragged in press releases before the event that they would shut down the BART station. But that never happened.
