Wither and die, greedy hydrangeas! Your days are numbered. Today, the East Bay Municipal Utility District is expected to announce mandatory cuts in water usage by roughly 20 percent per household. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the last two years have been exceptionally dry, leaving the East Bay’s reservoirs perilously empty. This spring was the driest on record, leaving the water district with no choice but to order every household to drastically slash its water use, or face having the water supply cut altogether. And summer hasn’t even started yet! It’s going to be a long, long year.
