The Bay City News Service reports that Casilda Shipping, a Maltese-based freight company, has been caught dumping waste oil into the ocean when four crewmembers of the Rio Gold ratted them out when they berthed in Oakland. In addition, the company was caught falsifying records to cover up the deed. Casilda has been fined $750,000 and put on probation.
