.Oakland Rapper Allblack is Free and Back with a New Track, “Salute Me”

Allblack hit Oakland’s underground rap scene last year after the release of his debut mixtape, No Shame. Now, after a three-month stint in jail for a violation of probation, he’s releasing the second single off his upcoming project, No Shame 2: “Salute Me,” a track that’s part Oakland banger and part down-South anthem.

No Shame 2, which is hosted by well known Atlanta DJ Trap-A-Holics, was set to release last March. But due to frequent court appearances and having to sit behind bars for ninety days, Allblack delayed the project.

He said in an interview that while he was incarcerated, he had the chance to write new songs and think of tweaks to improve the tape. He plans on releasing it later this month. “I came home and got my mind right,” he added.

In the meantime, you can hear some new Allblack tracks on Summer in the Town Volume 1, a new compilation by Oakland DJ-producer Spencer Stevens (whose collective, Wav Bros, won Best DJ Crew Taking Over the Summer in our recent Best of the East Bay issue). Stevens has a listening party for the mixtape tonight at 8 p.m. at 322 15th Street for First Friday, and it will be posted on his SoundCloud shortly after.
