It stands six stories high and emits sounds that will send a tremor through your seats. Godzilla? No. King Kong? No. Well, then when will this monster be coming to theaters near you? Actually the monster is a theater near you. Welcome to Dublin, the East Bay home of Hooters and Santa Rita Jail. Dublin’s Regal Hacienda Crossing offers one of the only two IMAX screens in the East Bay. For those who haven’t experienced IMAX, suffice it to say it’s a sensory overload — but in a good way. The screen is indeed six stories high, which makes it just big enough to accommodate Will Smith’s ego. The Dublin IMAX shows both mainstream releases (most recently, the animated film Robots) and limited-release pictures made especially for the megascreen format, such as Michael Jordan to the Max. It’s a pretty good deal, especially considering today’s movie prices: $10 for kids and $12 for adults (which is only $2 more than standard flicks at the Regal Hacienda Crossing).
