The good news is the northbound I-880 lanes into San Francisco are finally open. The bad news is that they were closed for two hours after a semi carrying 8,000 gallons of gas smashed into a car, jackknifed, fell over, and exploded. According to the Chron, the heat from the flames was so intense that plastic from nearby telephone poles and speed limit signs melted away. The truck was destroyed, of course, but miraculously no one was injured.
