When Loni Hancock shows up at the state Senate this January, she intends to lead a fight to eliminate the requirement that the legislature needs a two-thirds’ majority to pass a budget. “It has led to a tyranny of the majority,” she told the Web site PolitickerCA.com. “I think everybody realizes we’re in a straightjacket. We have to take this on now.” There’s a remote chance that the Dems will take a two-thirds majority this November, so maybe Hancock will get her way. Otherwise, forget it. We appreciate the sentiment, though.
