Local filmmaker (and occasional Express contributor) Richard Parks is making a new documentary about vintage Toyota truck owners in Oakland. (Yes, apparently, there’s a subculture for everything in the Bay Area.) Called HI-LUX, after the Hilux model trucks, the film doesn’t have a particular angle, says Parks, but may reach one during the course of filming. “Or it may reach no conclusion at all, except to wonder at life’s infinite variety, and offer a modest, scattered portrait of the city of Oakland at this moment in time. And probably showcase some of the best vintage truck cinematography out there, if you are into that.”
If you have a vintage Toyota truck, or know somebody who does, Parks wants to hear from you. Contact him at 510-220-1567 and hellothisisrichard [at] gmail [dot] com.
