Remember the days when nosebleed section tickets for a Warriors home game cost roughly the same amount as a dinner for two at Sizzler? It’s all in the past. Last year, Oakland’s famed underdog team made the playoffs for the first time since 1993 and stuck it out through Game 5, capping off the season with some truly remarkable plays. The halcyon moment was Baron Davis’ murderous fourth quarter slam dunk during Game 3 against the Utah Jazz. Davis, who spent the whole first half draining 3s and doing lay-ups with the nimbleness of a magician pulling coins from behind your ear, elicited wild applause after nailing the dunk, apparently with his shooting hand behind his head (catch a broadband recap on the Warriors’ 2007 playoff blog). This year’s 2007-08 home schedule features early-season games against such celebrity players as LeBron James on Tuesday, November 6 — when Oakland takes on the Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers — and Shaquille O’Neal on Friday, December 7, when they play the Miami Heat. It all starts with Tuesday, October 30’s grudge match against Utah. The fun starts at 7:30 p.m. at Oakland’s Oracle Arena.
