Director David Lynch has come to be synonymous with all that is surrealist and disturbing, achieving through his body of dreamy work his own adjectival term — “Lynchian.” Well, the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (2155 Center St.) is hosting a literally “lynchian” weekend by playing some of Lynch’s most well-known works. The series starts on Friday, August 19, with Mulholland Drive, continues with Blue Velvet and Eraserhead on Saturday, August 20, and culminates with a free documentary screening of A Shadow History of the Lynchian: Oddities and Marginalia and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me on Sunday, August 21. Through all five screenings, Dennis Lim, author of David Lynch: The Man from Another Place, will be present to introduce the films. He will hold a book signing before Mulholland Drive, and copies of the book will be available for purchase in the museum store.
