Well, you can’t get a more thorough victory than the one UC Berkeley won in court yesterday. Superior Court Judge Barbara Miller gave the green light to Cal’s plan to hack down dozens of oak trees near Memorial Stadium and build themselves a new sports training facility. In addition, she ordered the plaintiffs, the city and a local neighborhood organization, to pay 85 percent of court costs. According to the Chron, the plaintiffs have a week to send an appeal up the pipeline. If that fails, and the tree-sitters finally get starved or forced out, it’s bombs away for the oak grove, and the university will move ahead with trying to build a better football program.
