Is solar power the only industry (besides debt collection) that is actually growing these days? It is if you’re BrightSource Energy, the Oakland-based solar power company. According to the San Jose Mercury News, the company has just signed a new contract to provide Southern California Edison with 1,300 megawatts of electricity, courtesy of power plants it will build in the Mojave Desert. The capacity will be enough to power 845,000 homes.
