.Best Skeeze-Free Dance Party

Ships in the Night

It’s a sad truth, but club-going is often synonymous with moderate to heavy levels of sexual predatory grossness. But you will rarely have to huddle around a friend to ward off the unwanted and repeated advances of a gropey skeezeball at Ships in the Night. The famed monthly queer dance party has been happening in the Bay Area for more than seven years, and now calls the spacious New Parish home. You’re guaranteed to hear Ginuwine’s “Pony” and witness a whole lot of grinding, but unlike at some places, you’re way less likely to have to fight off unwanted attention. That’s not to say you won’t be surrounded by clubgoers ready to, in all ways, get down, but the vibe is strongly built on the pillars of consent and respect. Plus, every event raises money for various queer-justice community groups. Now that’s good juju all around.
